Square Enix limiting FFXIV beta codes

Square Enix is restricting the availability of Final Fantasy XIV open beta codes

because demand is proving too much for the game’s servers.

The Japanese game company suggests you wait and try later.

“Due to heavy server traffic, we are continuing to experience Square Enix Account

Management System congestion,” reads a statement on the account page.

“Currently, players may not be able to log into the FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test,

or acquire registration codes for the game.

“Our technical staff is monitoring the situation closely and working to resolve this

issue.

“As a countermeasure to the congestion, we are currently limiting the acquisition of

registration codes for the Open Beta Test.

“If you cannot acquire a registration code, or if you are unable to access the Square

Enix Account Management System, we ask that you please wait and try again later.

We apologize for any inconvenience.”

The open beta kicked off at 2am this morning, but at the time of writing applying for

a code is nigh on impossible.

Players have also reported difficulty downloading the client. Guess that’s what a

beta’s all about.

Final Fantasy XIV will be released for PC on 30th September, although buyers of the

Special Edition can enter the world eight days earlier on 22nd September.
